Reliability Training Services

GMR Solutions specializes in putting theory into practice, and our trainings are based almost exclusively on applying reliability engineering, and specifically HALT & HASS to real world problems, whilst providing actual failure examples for your organization. We pride ourselves on being ‘hands on’ and will apply this principle during our training sessions.

HALT Demonstrations & Workshops

Our engineering experts are available to run workshops either at your premises, or at one of our international partner labs. Typical workshops run for either half, or one full day. The follow topics are covered in our interactive work shops:

  • Chamber operation overview.
    • Thermal section.
    • Vibration section.
  • Fixturing examples.
  • Thermocouple and accelerometer placement.
  • Chamber operating software setup and control.
  • Airflow duct placement.
  • Vibration monitoring example.
  • Test execution on an electronic product:
    • Short pre-HALT meeting including functional test plan.
    • Cold and hot step stress.
    • Thermal Cycling.
    • Combined Environment.
  • Failure examples for each test step.
  • Isolation techniques for fault finding units under test.
  • Implementing corrective actions and verifying fixes.
  • Reporting example - standard practices.

Design For Reliability (DfR) Course

DfR highlights a series of Selected Reliability topics and explains when to use them. Topics are chosen from each phase of the 4 product life cycle - Concept, Design, Prototype and Manufacturing.

We start out in the Concept Phase by showing you how to set good goals and how to then take these goals and write a Reliability Plan. Then we take the best techniques from the next 3 phases and explain how to integrate each of these together to make a cohesive reliability program.

Note that this DfR seminar can highlight Hardware only, Software only, or a combination of the two.

the training course will cover a series of reliability topics and will answer questions why each subject is important.

  • DfR Overview/Introduction Module
  • Planning for Reliability - Assessments, Goal Setting/Metrics, & Program Plan Module
  • Reliability Modeling and Prediction Module
  • Design for Availability Module
  • Thermal Analysis Module
  • Derating Analysis
  • Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) Module
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Module
  • Design of Experiments (DoE) Module
  • Human Engineering/Human Factors Analysis Module
  • Warranty Analysis/Design for Warranty Cost Reduction Module
  • Critical Parts Management Module
  • Design for Extreme Environments - Vibration, Shock, Temperature, Pressure Module
  • Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT) Module
  • Reliability Demonstration Test (RDT)/Accelerated Life Test (ALT) Module
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Module
  • Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HASS) Module
  • Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Module
  • Outsourced Engineering and Reliability Module
  • Mechanical Reliability Module
  • Software Reliability (from Concepts to Testing) Module

This seminar will help you define reliability goals, metrics, plans and schedules and then manage the activities, all within a product life cycle perspective. It will also monitor and improve processes to measure reliability related costs. From this seminar, you will be able to establish and monitor processes to track reliability growth as well as assist production and supply chain groups in reliability assurance strategy development. This seminar is targeted at the engineers responsible for product reliability who will be using these reliability techniques.

The DfR course is provided by our international partners, Ops A La Carte.
